Mazal Tov, Miriam!

Our community will celebrate the bat mitzvah of Miriam Medvedovsky-Khanukaev this coming weekend, and we are all invited to join in celebrating and honoring her. 

This Shabbos morning, services will begin at 9:00 as usual, Miriam will give a D'var Torah at around 11:30 AM, and kiddush will be followed by a congregational dairy lunch sponsored by the Medvedovsky-Khanukaev Family.

The joy continues with a festive gathering of singing in Miriam's honor, on the next day (Sunday, January 15th) at 11:00 AM.  The sing-along will be held at B'nei Moshe (1845 Commonwealth Avenue, Brighton, MA, 02135).

Sunday Siyum!

Rabbi Norbert Weinberg will give a "si-yum" on the Talmudic tractate of Pesachim this coming Sunday, January 15, at 3:00 PM on the occasion of the yahrzeits of his mother and brother. 

All are cordially invited.  There is no charge, however an RSVP is strongly requested to enable adequate preparation of food.

Historic Newton Salutes!

Save the date –  Sunday afternoon, January 22nd, at 4:00 PM – for a celebration. 

On Sunday, January 22, Historic Newton will open a new "Newton Salutes" Exhibit.  The exhibit, entitled Adams Street Synagogue: Celebrating our Centennial, describes the history of the neighborhood and congregation, illustrated by historic photographs.

The opening is marked by a celebration at The Jackson Homestead and Museum (located at the corner of Washington Street and Jackson Street) from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.   The opening event, like the exhibit itself, is free.

Centennial Choir Concert

The Toronto Jewish Male Choir started in the late 1980s, in response to a growing desire by ex-South Africans to enjoy the majesty and power of a male choir for participation in weddings. 

Since then, the Toronto Jewish Male Choir has evolved into its present status, captivating audiences with its unique sound and passion.  The choir is a traditional highlight at any expat South African Jewish wedding ceremony, and its performances always garner acclaim as wedding guests absorb the familiar melodies from a time gone by. 

Now, as the choir's reputation has grown, the choir has performed impressively at many concerts.  The Toronto Jewish Male Choir has sung with some of the world’s leading Chazzanim, participated in Jewish choral festivals, and appeared on stage together with Avrahom Fried. 

The Toronto Jewish Male Choir has stamped a unique and beautiful cultural element of traditional South African Jewish music, both religious and secular, on Jewish society in the Greater Toronto Area; and we at the Adams Street Shul are very pleased to present them to the Jews of Greater Boston.

The famed Toronto Jewish Male Choir will be celebrating our Centennial with us on the weekend of March 17-18.  Recently returned from performances in Berlin, they will lead our Shabbat Musaf service on March 17th, and perform a concert to benefit the Adams Street Shul on Sunday afternoon, March 18th, at 3:00 PM. 

Tickets for the concert are only $25 if purchased online in advance;  $20 for members of the Adams Street Shul.  (Tickets at the door are $30 for everyone.)  We are also seeking patrons to underwrite the costs of bringing the choir to Boston.  Please use the online form to purchase tickets or make a donation now.
