There is a berachah that we can say only once a year, when we see two (or more) different species of fruit-bearing trees in bloom simultaneously.  Each year, we come together to say it.

It's a fun gathering.  There's good food for humans, and birdseed for kids to feed the chickens.  There's festive music, a drash (see our online recordings of Picnic with the Trees Shiurim for examples from prior years), and a chance to say this berachah together. 

This slideshow is from The Adams Street Shul's seventh annual "Picnic With the Trees." celebrated on April 28, 2013.  The Jewish holidays were so early in the solar year that everything was blooming by Lag B'omer, so we combined the two events.  We had a unique "Lag BaOmer Barbeque With the Trees" from 12 noon to 2:30pm.  That left plenty of time to go to the many other Lag BaOmer events going on later that afternoon in Brighton and Brookline. 



We gathered in the yard of Sarah and Jordan Lee Wagner, just a few blocks from the Shul. Hashem provided the blooming trees and beautiful weather.  The shul provided the barbeque.  (We moved the shul's grill and other cooking equipment to the event, and everything was be under kosher supervision as at the shul itself.)  It was a wonderful time, with plenty of family and friends.

We had a lovely Spring celebration together; and, led by Rabbi Weinberg, we all got to say the berachah; and we'll look forward to being together again soon and at next year's event.
