Congratulations to Yochanan Cramer and Dina Wagner, whose articles appear in the Pesach 5785 edition of A Bisl Torah. Copies of this issue are available on the table in the Shul's front lobby. |
Bikur Cholim (visiting people who are ill) is an important mitzvah.
A visit creates a spiritual and emotional connection that helps alleviate suffering and promote healing. Tradition says that visiting the sick "removes one-sixtieth of their illness."
Adams Street is pleased to announce that Lalitha Weglein Mantha has volunteered to be our Rosh Bikur Cholim.
If you know of someone who would benefit from a visit,
If you are seeking opportunities to fulfill this mitzvah,
Did you miss our very special April educational event, Growing Up With Robert Frost?
Well not any more! We recorded it. Enjoy!
Robert Frost (1874-1963) is the preeminent poet in modern American history, but few know of his affinity for and connection to Judaism, and how it informed his works.
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, Jonathan Reichert, then 93 years old, a long-time friend of the legendary poet Robert Frost, shared his memories and insights into the life and works and spirituality of this literary giant.
This is a video of that truly special event.
Many thanks to all who helped make last Sunday's annual spring social event, The Picnic With the Trees, so great:
Thank you Rabbi Ahron Benmergui for sharing beautiful words of Torah about how our reciting the trees blessing not only expresses appreciation to God for all the delights provided by trees, but also brings good things to the Jewish People.
Thank you Rustin Shenkman for assistance with lots of logistics. Not just the Shul's drinks, desserts, and table supplies, but especially for making the big comfy tent available!
Thank you Benyomin Fleischmann for telling a wonderful story about rabbis and trees during the Holocaust, and how this engenders a deeper appreciation of the life of trees.
Thank you Wagner Family for hosting the event in their fruit-tree-surrounded yard, and for the theater-style popcorn machine and the marshmallow fire-pit.
And thank you to all who came together to create new memories of enjoyable snacking and schmoozing.
